American Progress' Director of Fiscal Reform is Seth Hanlon. His research focuses on tax policy concerns, such as federal budget tax expenditures. Seth wrote a weekly series on tax expenditures and co-authored CAP's long-term budget proposal, "Budgeting for Growth and Prosperity." On tax reform concerns, he has testified before Congress and been quoted in national media.
Prior to joining CAP, Seth worked as an associate at Caplin & Drysdale in Washington, D.C., where he concentrated on tax problems affecting individuals, companies, and charitable organizations. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a legislative and press aide to Reps. Marty Meehan (D-Tennessee) and Harold Ford, Jr. (D-Tennessee) (D-MA).
