Bio Seth Ennis was raised in Georgia, but the young singer-songwriter is as worldly as the most seasoned traveler — and it shows in his eclectic brand of country music, which is influenced by his hero Vince Gill, the pop-punk bands he followed on the Vans Warped Tour every year, and smooth R&B stars like Usher. Despite being only 23, the multi-instrumentalist (and natural-born drummer) has had a lot of life experience. Seth grew up on a military installation in Japan, cut his teeth as a touring musician while living in Raleigh and commuting to Nashville, and has now established roots in Music City, where he secured a record deal with Sony Music Nashville through tenacity and devotion to his art. It was a question of being in the right place at the right moment — and having the raw skill to stand out, as he likes to put it. “Here in Nashville, there was a battle of the band's competition, and when one of the bands pulled out, I got the call,” Seth explains. “I gathered my players and we smashed it.” Seth won a coveted slot at the CMA Music Festival and attracted Sony's attention, as well as that of one of the competition's judges, producer Corey Crowder. Crowder is now in the studio with Seth, co-producing his debut record with him. Seth's music is poised to establish him as a fresh new voice in the genre, one with a rare global vision, with the innovative creative risks of contemporary mainstream music, the delicacy of classic country, strong R&B influences, and a healthy appreciation for organic sounds (he is a bluegrass enthusiast). “Country music isn't very popular in Japan,” he confesses, laughing as he describes his preferred kind of music. “If I'd spent my entire childhood in Georgia, I'd definitely sound a lot different than I do now. My voice is extremely varied because of how often I traveled around and all the cultures I encountered.” It's one that will fit right in with the changing world of country music, where production has become just as important as songwriting. Fortunately, Seth is a natural at both. “I value production a great deal, and I like to think I have a good ear for it. “I'm really picky,” he admits. “And since going to Nashville and studying from excellent songwriters like Ben Hayslip and Rhett Akins, I've improved my songwriting skills. Even if it isn't my own music, the best song always wins. I have a great deal of admiration for the literary community.” Seth collaborated with David Hodges and Blair Daly on his first track "Woke Up in Nashville," which is an autobiographical story of his trip to Music City to pursue his goal of becoming a singer-songwriter. Seth loads up his father's truck and drives north from Georgia, which is a fitting start to the song. Seth performed every instrument on “Woke Up in Nashville” in the studio, from guitars to bass to drums and piano. He even did the backing vocals himself. The young singer values independence in the studio and in the booth, but he's also eager to cooperate in the supportive country community. Seth is adamant about keeping his sense of self-identity. He may openly declare a like for pop melody and rock & roll intensity, yet he's a Country aficionado. “I grew up in the country. He claims that the stories are about him. “However, Nashville is currently a melting pot, so I'm thinking big: What can I do to perform internationally? How can I have my music heard all over the world? It's all about having huge dreams.” Which has led him in the correct direction thus far.
