On a grant from the Rudolf Nureyev Foundation, Sergei Polunin trained at the Kyiv State Choreographic School before enrolling in the Royal Ballet School at 13. He became the first soloist at the Royal Ballet in 2009, and at 19, he was promoted to Principal.
To work as a Principal with the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theater and as a Guest Soloist with the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, Sergei departed the Royal Ballet in 2012. He currently performs with leading artistic dance companies all over the world.
