Semi Precious Weapons is the formation of Chicago-conceived gay/ambisexual artist/musician Justin Tranter, an alluring frontperson with a long history of preposterous exhibitions. Tranter fell under the spell of Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid when he was a kid, and in the wake of seeing Courtney Love and Hole play out, his course was immovably set.
He needed to be a hero. Acknowledging he needed to compose melodies just as sing them, he asked his folks to get him a piano and instructed himself to play. He went to a music and expressions secondary school, where he contemplated traditional and pop piano, prior to proceeding onward to the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
