Sebu Simonian is a vocalist, lyricist, keyboardist, and one-half of the Los Angeles-based independent pop duo Capital Cities. He is also Armenian-American. At age 15, Simonian formed his first band. In 2004, Ryan Welker, a guitarist and backing vocalist, and Simonian, the band's main singer and pianist, began Aviatic.
While seeking a job as a musician in 2008, Simonian connected with Ryan Merchant through Craigslist. They first worked as jingle journalists and wrote songs for various organizations. Then, in 2010, they helped create the unconventional pop duo Capital Cities.
