Author of Community Musicworks and 2010 MacArthur Fellow Sebastian Ruth. Community Musicworks began modestly in 1997 with 15 violin understudy and flare-up funding from Brown University's Swearer Center for Public Service.
Today, CMW is a thriving organization with ten seasoned local artists and more than 100 neighborhood children participating for free – some for as long as ten years – without regard to skill or capability.
