Lord Sebastian Coe serves as a prominent British sports leader and former Olympic champion who currently leads World Athletics as President. The world recognizes Sebastian Coe as a British sports leader who won Olympic medals and became President of World Athletics. The middle-distance runner won four Olympic medals while securing two 1500 meters gold medals during the 1980 and 1984 Games. His 800-meter world record of 1:41.73 remained the longest-standing record for sixteen years.
After his athletic career ended Coe moved into public service while taking on sports administration roles. During his time in politics he represented the Conservatives in Parliament from 1992 until 1997 before receiving a life peer title in the House of Lords during 2000. Through his leadership London successfully won the 2012 Summer Olympics hosting rights and he then directed the London Organising Committee to plan and deliver the Games.
