Sean Bean, an actor, portrayed the criminals in the films GoldenEye and Patriot Games. Most recently, he played Odysseus in Troy and Boromir in the three-part Lord of the Rings series. However, his role as Eddard Stark in the first season of Game of Thrones made him the most well-known. On April 17, 1959, Sean Bean was created in Sheffield, England. After graduating, he began appearing in London theatre productions on TV and in movies. He gained a reputation in America for playing troublemakers, such as an IRA scaremonger in Patriot Games opposite Harrison Ford and a double agent in GoldenEye. He was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1983. In the ITV TV series Sharpe, Bean first saw success in a long-time portrayal as Richard Sharpe. Since then, he has received more praise for his performances in the HBO epic fantasy series Game of Thrones, the BBC treasury drama Accused, and the ITV-recorded dramatization of Henry VIII. Over his career, Bean has received several awards, including an International Emmy for Best Actor. He has also been nominated for a Saturn Award and a BAFTA.
