Dr. Scott Poland is widely regarded as an expert in assessing danger and preventing school emergencies such as bullying, self-injury, and juvenile savagery. He is well recognized as a pioneer in avoiding school suicide after writing Suicide Intervention in the Schools, one of the most respected works on the subject, in 1989.
Also, he oversees the American Association of Suicidology's Past Prevention Section. Recently, Dr. Poland co-authored Suicide in Schools (2014), which offers school-based specialists practical advice on developing and putting effective self-destruction anticipatory evaluation intervention and postvention measures into practice.
