Scott Kinney has been the president of Capella University since 2012. Before joining Capella, he held influential roles at Thomson Reuters, including those of West Education Group and FindLaw head. In his early years, Kinney worked as a product engineer for two financial services software companies.
He eventually joined The Boston Consulting Group and had executive positions in Boston, Chicago, and Melbourne, Australia. In 1998, he became COO/CFO of the online financial services company BigCharts. After the company was sold to CBS, he served as MarketWatch's longtime top VP of licensing and oversaw the company's online content and innovation division.
