About Scott Cohen

Scott Cohen Biography

With his appearance in the 1990 thriller Jacob's Ladder, directed by Adrian Lyne, Scott Cohen developed into the model of a flexible character comedian. He gained notoriety throughout the 1990s thanks to roles in movies like The Mambo Kings and the Angelina Jolie film Gia and cameo appearances in TV shows like HBO's Oz. When he began playing the roles of half-man, half-mammoth Wolf in the fantasy miniseries The ninth Kingdom and English teacher Max Medina in the critically acclaimed comedy-drama Gilmore Girls (The WB/The CW 2000-07), Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham), Scott's fame skyrocketed. Scott was a star at the time, which helped him place third on People magazine's list of the year's best people. Scott chose to pursue his chosen career path as a character performer rather than renouncing his status as a pin-up. Scott, a native New Yorker, was born in The Bronx in 1961. Jack Cohen, his father, was a jazz musician. Scott had a deep ambition to pursue a career in music. Even if it didn't pan out, he became a skilled musician. Scott enrolled in a seminar at the State University of New York at New Paltz to study jokes, and he was pretty good at it. Scott was encouraged by this and decided to pursue an acting career. Scott returned to New York City after finishing school. He embarked on the typical career path followed by many young entertainers looking for jobs in the Big Apple: waitress, toy demonstration, courier, and even substitute instructor. Anastasia Traina, a former Vogue model now a performer and writer, and Scott wed in 1989; their son Liam was born in 1995.
