Quincy American hip hop music artist Matthew Hanley, better known by his stage name Schoolboy Q (sometimes abbreviated ScHoolboy Q), is from South Central Los Angeles, California. Hanley signed with Carson-based independent record label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) in 2009, then in late 2011, he confirmed a deal with large label Interscope Records. Hanley is also a hip-hop ensemble Black Hippy member alongside fellow Californian rappers Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, and Kendrick Lamar. Hanley released ScHoolboy Turned Hustla, a mixtape, in 2008 as his debut full-length work. He then released Gangsta and Soul as a follow-up in 2009. He then returned in January 2011 with Setbacks, his debut solo album. The project that TDE released to high-end shops has now reached position 100 on the US Billboard 200 list. A while later, his second free collection, Habits and Contradictions, was released only through electronic shops. The album received favorable reviews and debuted at position 111 on the US Billboard 200. After signing with Interscope, Hanley began recording his critically acclaimed debut album, Oxymoron. The album was released on February 25, 2014, debuting at the top of the US Billboard 200. Collard Greens Man of the Year, Break the Bank Studio, and Hell of a Night were the songs that kept the collection going, with Collard Greens Man of the Year and Studio all appearing on the US Billboard Top 100 graph.
