On September 11th, 2016, Canny Janine Shields of Fayetteville, Arkansas, took the Miss America platform and dazzled the judges with her sure balance and talent, winning the title of Miss America 2017 and a reward of $50000. Sharp, a senior at the University of Arkansas who studies art with a minor in business, is 21 years old.
Sharp will travel throughout the country during a time of administration to promote her own nonprofit, "Eat Better Live Better," which aims to educate people about how the foods we consume affect our lives. She will also serve as the national goodwill ambassador for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals throughout her year in office.
