At 26, Sarah Weddington, a Women’s rights speaker and attorney, successfully argued the landmark Supreme Court case, Roe v. Wade. She became the first woman from Austin ever to be elected into the Texas House of Representatives, and later served as an assistant to President Jimmy Carter.
She is the author of A Question of Choice, and teaches at the University of Texas. Sarah Weddington received many recognition for her work, including the 2006 International Athena Award, which is presented to individuals who have achieved a high degree of excellence in their profession, and who have assisted women in reaching their full potential.
