After being a professor at Harvard University for 11 years, Sarah T. Stewart joined the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at UC Davis in 2014. She is a planetary researcher, a MacArthur Fellow, and the director of the Shock Compression Laboratory, which employs light gas weaponry to study stun waves in planetary materials.
She also has some experience investigating impacts in the nearby planetary system. In addition, Stewart is well known for her alternative hypothesis for the origin of the Moon and her dedication to collaborative research in the planetary sciences.
