Sarah Polley is a well-known Canadian performer famous for her political activity. The Kevin Sullivan-directed movie was based on a book by Lucy Maud Montgomery, who also wrote the 1985 novel Anne of Green Gables (TV). When Sullivan created a TV project based on Montgomery's writings, he cast Polley before Sara Stanley for the lead role in Avonlea (1990). At 14, Polley was wealthy thanks to the agreement, which catapulted her into the top spot among Canadian TV personalities.
