Sarah Gray decided she wanted her newborn twin son Thomas' death—and life—to have a purpose after learning that he had been diagnosed with anencephaly, a fatal illness that indicated he would not survive long after birth. She planned to donate Thomas's organs to medical research in the weeks leading up to the birth of her boys in 2010.
Sarah went on a hunt for answers after becoming concerned about how the funds were being utilized, which led her to some of the country's most famous scientific facilities, including those at Harvard, Duke, and the University of Pennsylvania.
