Author Sara Shepard is the creator of the ABC Family television programs Pretty Little Liars and Lying Game, both of which have achieved New York Times bestseller status. While in college, she purchased many pairs of flashy leather jackets, club kid shoes, Day-Glo pacifiers, and purple vinyl trousers. She kept a separate folder on her computer for the stories she wrote in her spare time during her employment. She eventually received malicious text messages from someone only known as A, earned an MFA from Brooklyn College, came dangerously close to being struck by her closest friend's Vehicle, and continued seeing dead people everywhere. The final thing didn't happen. She is also the hesitant owner of three slobbery dogs and the author of the adult novel The Visibles, which was published in May 2009. Based on a fictional universe they created when they were 6 and 9, she and her sister Alison have been working on several combined creative projects (Claymation movies, art installations, and video game prototypes) for years. But they are sure they are the only ones who find the world amusing.
