Santo Loquasto Biography

From Sticks and Bones in 1972 until his most recent production, Waiting for Godot in 2009, Loquasto has often served as a scenic or costume designer for about 61 Broadway shows. In addition to winning the Drama Desk Award for Best Set Design three times and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Costume Design once, he has been nominated for 18 Tony Awards for his work as a customer or scenic designer. In addition, Loquasto was honored by the American Theater Hall of Fame in 2004. Having worked as a production designer on several Woody Allen movies, Loquasto has received Academy Award nominations for his work on Bullets Over Broadway, Radio Days, and the costume for Zelig. He earned his MFA from Yale Theatre School and a B.A. in English literature from King's College Pennsylvania. He debuted as a designer in the Showcase Theatre in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Loquasto is the distant cousin of writer Angelo F. Coniglio and the first cousin of Indy car racer Al Loquasto. Libertino lo Guasto was a foundling born in Serradifalco, Sicily, in 1796. All of them are descended from him.
