Santina Muha Biography

Santina Muha operates as a comedian and actress and writer and disability advocate who resides in Los Angeles. The spinal cord injury she received at age five in Toms River New Jersey formed her worldview while driving her to create inclusive narratives. After completing her degree in Communication and Sociology at Rutgers University Santina transitioned her academic knowledge into her creative work.  

Santina Muha has been a performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) theater since 2015 while gaining recognition in the entertainment industry. She wrote and performed a solo show while joining a house team and hosting "Rollin' with My Homies" which brought comedians in wheelchairs to entertain audiences while promoting awareness at UCB. Her initiatives made UCB become one of the theaters with wheelchair-accessible stages throughout all their locations.  

Santina Muha appears on Netflix's "One Day at a Time" as a recurring character and has acted in "Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot" alongside Joaquin Phoenix. The short film "Take It Back" which she co-wrote and co-produced alongside starring in it received a Best Film nomination at the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge in 2019. The film examines how disability affects personal history while exploring identity.  

Santina dedicates her time to disability advocacy through her work as an artist while fighting for better media representation of disabled people and artistic accessibility. Her BuzzFeed series "Ask a Woman in a Wheelchair" reached more than 10 million viewers while she shared her life experiences to break down misconceptions about people with disabilities. She regularly appears on different podcasts to talk about disability rights together with pop culture topics.
