Dr. Sampson Davis was reared in Newark, one of the most impoverished cities in New Jersey, as the fifth of six children. Davis spent his early years in small quarters, surrounded by broken families, violence, and narcotics. Yet, he was a decent student who managed to distinguish between intelligence and fitting in with the crowd.
According to Davis, this set of abilities was most important to his survival. While Davis was a student at University High School in Newark, he committed to becoming a doctor with Dr. George Jenkins and Dr. Rameck Hunt. Davis is now a board-certified emergency medicine physician after his two childhood buddies honored their promises to one another.
