When Sammy Adams' debut album topped the digital hip-hop rankings the week of its release in 2010, it created quite a commotion. The underground mixtape Boston's Opening Day came out the following year. The popularity of the tune Driving Me Mad helped his aboveground debut, Boston's Boy EP, emerge at the top of the digital hip-hop rankings.
To prevent any misunderstanding with the Boston-based beer corporation, he formally changed his stage name to Sammy Adams when he returned in 2013 with Homecoming. Adams quit RCA in 2015 and returned to 1st Round for the release of his debut album. Eight years after his debut, The Long Way was released in March 2016.
