The SAS-themed drama Ultimate Force included Sam Troughton as a character. Troughton's grandpa Patrick, who played Robin in the inaugural Robin Hood television series in 1953, first appeared in the BBC Robin Hood series (2006–2009) in October 2006. Orlando is one of Troughton's theatre roles, appearing in Samuel West's As You Like It at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
He rejoined the RSC as an ensemble member performing in the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from 2009 to 2011. He completed the roles of Marcus Brutus in Julius Caesar (2009), Third Gentleman in The Winter's Tale (2010), and King Arthur in Morte D'Arthur at the Courtyard Theatre in 2009 and 2009, respectively.
