Sam Keen Biography

Sam Keen is an American author, educator, and philosopher best known for his explorations of love, life, religion, and what it means to be a man in today's world. He also co-produced the award-winning PBS documentary Faces of the Enemy, was the focus of a Bill Moyers television special in the early 1990s and worked as a contributing editor at Psychology Today magazine for 20 years. In 2003, he was also featured in the film Flight from Death. Keen earned his bachelor's degree from Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and his master's and doctoral degrees from Harvard University and Princeton University, respectively. Keen is married to the Rev. Patricia de Jong, who is the senior pastor at Berkeley's First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ.
