They imagined that restaurants would use technology and enhance their customer experience. Years later, Sam's close friend and restaurateur Mary Heffernan of the Bay Area turned the fantasy into reality. Sam and Jon set out to design the world's top dining experience under her direction. The teamwork went together like butter. Later Butter Systems became a reality thanks to money and assistance from Y Combinator. Sam attended the University of Maryland to study computer science and physics.
