Sally Nuamah started a charity that offers financial aid to first-generation college students who are low-income girls. As a first-generation college student, Dr. Nuamah has worked as a research associate at Princeton, assistant professor at Duke, and fellow at Harvard since earning her Ph.D. from Northwestern. She is currently a tenure-track professor at Duke.
Academic journals, including the American Education Research Journal and the Journal of Urban Affairs, have published work by Dr. Nuamah. She has also had articles published in the Washington Post and Salon.com, and Harvard University Press will publish her book How Girls Succeeded in 2019. In addition, 2013 saw the publication of her TedxChicago lecture, Clapping with One Hand.
