When Dr. Salima Ikram traveled to Egypt at nine, she fell in love with the nation's history and monuments. At Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania, she studied Egyptology and Archaeology and graduated with an A.B. in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology and History. In addition, she received training in faunal analysis while pursuing her doctorate. While residing in Cairo, Dr.
Ikram instructs Egyptology and archaeology courses at the American University of Cairo. Dr. Ikram has done a lot of work in Egypt. She worked as an archaeologist and site supervisor on the Akhenaten Temple Project at Buto in the Delta and the Giza plateau, adjacent to Karnak Temple.
