Pitchfork Media's founder and CEO is Ryan Schreiber. In 1995, just out of high school, Schreiber founded Pitchfork in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their goal was to promote indie music on the Internet. In 1999, Pitchfork relocated to Chicago, which it now calls home. It has expanded to include a yearly music event in Chicago and Paris and the website.
