Ruth Marcus is an American journalist, political commentator, and author. She spent over 40 years at The Washington Post, joining in 1984 while still in law school at Harvard.
She rose through roles including national reporter covering the Supreme Court, Justice Department, White House, and campaign finance; deputy national editor (1999–2002); editorial board member (from 2003); deputy editorial page editor; and longtime op-ed columnist starting in 2006. She was a 2007 Pulitzer Prize finalist for Commentary. Marcus authored “Supreme Ambition: Brett Kavanaugh and the Conservative Takeover” (2019).
