R. T. Rybak was the 46th mayor of Minneapolis in the United States. He is an American politician, journalist, businessman, and activist. Rybak beat incumbent Sharon Sayles Belton by a 65 percent to 35 percent margin in the 2001 election, the largest margin in municipal history for a challenge to an incumbent.
He was elected in January 2002, and in November 2005, he was re-elected for a second term, and in November 2009, he was re-elected for a third term. He declared in late December 2012 that he would not seek re-election and would instead focus on his family. Rybak described the position of mayor as his "ideal job."
