Pemberton most recently worked for Ford Racing as a field manager. His career as a crew chief in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, where he fielded cars for Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, and Kyle Petty, is legendary. Pemberton's drivers won 23 races and finished in the top 10 in NASCAR's main series during his 17 years as a crew chief.
Pemberton will act as a liaison between NASCAR and the three national series that make up the organization: the NASCAR Nextel Cup, NASCAR Busch, and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Pemberton will report to NASCAR President Mike Helton, and the directors of those series will report to him.
