Robert Hicks is an American author, historian, and preservationist best known for his debut novel, "The Widow of the South." Hicks was born in 1951 in South Florida and spent most of his early life in Mississippi. He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University and later earned a law degree from the University of Texas.
Despite his legal education, Hicks became interested in preservation and restoration and has served as the chairman of the board for the Franklin battlefield preservation group. He is also a founding member of the Tennessee Preservation Trust. Hicks' debut novel, "The Widow of the South," was published in 2005 and became an immediate bestseller.
