At the age of 19, violinist Robert Vijay Gupta joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic. At the age of 11, he made his solo debut with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Zubin Mehta. He holds a Yale Master's degree in music. But what about his bachelor's degree? Pre-med.
Gupta was involved in various neuro- and neurodegenerative biology research projects as an undergraduate. He worked as a Research Assistant at CUNY Hunter College in New York City on spinal cord neuronal regeneration and at Harvard Institutes of Medicine's Center for Neurologic Diseases on the molecular pathology of Parkinson's disease.
