Growing up as the middle child of a family of ten siblings, Robert Dugoni was raised in Northern California after being born in Idaho. He found solace in writing at a young age, and by seventh grade, he knew he wanted to pursue it as a career.
Dugoni attended Stanford University and majored in communications/journalism and creative writing while working as a reporter for the Stanford Daily, where he received writing awards. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa, he briefly worked as a reporter for the Los Angeles Times. Dugoni attended UCLA law school and practiced law for 13 years in San Francisco.
