Rob Glaser was born on January 16, 1962, and is the creator of RealNetworks (1994), which provides, among other things, RealAudio, RealVideo, RealPlayer, and Helix. He became a billionaire by working for Microsoft for 10 years before starting RealNetworks. Glaser battled with Tony Fadell, described as the "Godfather of the iPhone" and "iPod," during his time as CEO of RealNetworks.
Fadell departed the firm after 5 weeks and went on to create Apple's products. Glaser holds a master's degree in economics and a bachelor's degree in computer science from Yale University. Glaser and EMI Vice Chairman David Munns received the Music Visionary Award from the Music for Youth Foundation and the United Jewish Appeal on June 16, 2004.
