Ricky Dene Gervais started his career in the music industry, attempting to become a pop star as the lead singer of the new wave band Seona Dancing and later managing the band Suede. He then transitioned to comedy, appearing on Channel 4's The 11 O'Clock Show from 1998 to 2000.
Gervais went on to host his own Channel 4 talk show Meet Ricky Gervais, followed by the highly successful BBC television series The Office in 2001 and Extras in 2005. He co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in both shows alongside Stephen Merchant.
