Rick Ross, born William Leonard Roberts II, is a successful American rapper who made his stage name from the notorious drug trafficker Freeway Ricky Ross, despite having no connection to him. He founded the record label Maybach Music Group and released his albums Deeper Than Rap and Teflon Don under it.
Ross was signed to Suave House Records, the former label for rap duo 8Ball & MJG, before signing a deal with Slip-n-Slide Records, which has been under the Def Jam umbrella since 2006.
