Rick Riordan is an American author known for his bestselling children's book series, including "Percy Jackson & The Olympians," "The Kane Chronicles," and "Magnus Chase & The Gods of Asgard." Before his writing career, Riordan taught English and history at public and private middle schools in the San Francisco Bay Area and Texas.

His love for mythology and storytelling inspired him to create the Percy Jackson series, which has since been adapted into a successful film franchise. In addition to his writing, Riordan advocates literacy and education. He and his wife founded the Read Riordan literacy initiative to promote reading and learning among young people.
