Richie Porte is a professional Australian road racing cyclist born on January 30, 1985. He started his cycling career at 17, and his first professional contract was with the Praties Continental Cycling Team. After a few years, he joined the WorldTour team, Saxo Bank, in 2010 and moved to Team Sky in 2012.
Throughout his career, Porte has been known as a strong climber and a key support rider for his team leaders. He has finished on the podium of many important races, including the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, and the Vuelta a España.
