Richard Douglas Dick Lamm is an American politician and lawyer who was born in Madison, Wisconsin in 1935. He was a Democrat who spent three years as Governor of Colorado (1975–1987) and campaigned for the Reform Party's presidential ticket in 1996. Lamm graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a law degree in 1961.
Lamm joined the University of Denver faculty in 1969. Lamm spearheaded the opposition against Denver's hosting of the 1976 Winter Olympics as a member of the Colorado Legislature in 1974. Denver had already been granted the games, but the campaign succeeded in depriving the city of public money, causing the city to cancel its hosting.
