On June 4, 2012, Richard 'Rick' Knabb, an American meteorologist, was named the 11th head of the National Hurricane Center. Knabb was born in Chicago and reared in Florida and Katy, Texas, a Houston suburb. He got a bachelor's degree in atmospheric science from Purdue University before going on to Florida State University for a master's degree and a Ph.D.
in meteorology.
