Richard Jenkins learned acting from Harold Guskin and built a long career in regional theater, particularly with the Trinity Repertory Theater in Rhode Island, where he also served as artistic director. In the early 1980s, he began accumulating more TV and film credits, including roles in The Witches of Eastwick (1987), Little Nikita (1988), and Sea of Love (1989).
He gained wider recognition for his comedic turn in Flirting with Disaster (1996) and continued to take on comedic roles in films like There's Something About Mary (1999), Me, Myself and Irene (2000), and Say It Isn't So (2001), while also balancing more serious roles.
