Richard E. Grant, although good friends with Hugh Grant, is not related to him in any way. He was born and raised in Swaziland, and interestingly, he wears a watch on each wrist, with one belonging to his late father and set to Swaziland time. Grant studied drama at Cape Town University and co-founded the Troupe Theatre Company.
He moved to London in 1982 and worked in theatre until his breakthrough role in the cult hit Withnail and me in 1986. Grant has since appeared in over 80 movies, working with some of Hollywood's most prominent directors and actors. He is also a published author with three books and has acted in numerous theatre productions.
