Richard Barton is the Founder and CEO of Zillow.com, an online real estate marketplace. Before founding Zillow, Barton also founded the online travel site Expedia, which was spun out of Microsoft in 1999. Barton served as Expedia's President, CEO, and Director until March 2003. He then served as the CEO of Zillow for six years before transitioning to Executive Chairman.
In February 2019, Barton returned to his role as Zillow's CEO. Barton is also a venture partner at Benchmark Capital and has served on the board of several companies, including Netflix, Avvo, Year Up, and Qurate Retail Group. Before his tech career, he worked in various product management roles at Microsoft from 1991 to 1994. Barton holds a B.S.
