Rhys Ernst is an American filmmaker, television director, and producer is known for his work on the Amazon Prime series "Transparent" and the film "Adam." He was born in North Carolina in 1982 and grew up in California. Ernst began his career as a filmmaker in the early 2000s, creating short films and music videos.
In 2008, he co-directed the documentary "The Fall of '55," which explored the cultural impact of the debut album by the band The Cramps. Ernst became widely known for his work on "Transparent," a groundbreaking television series about a transgender woman and her family. He was a producer and writer on the show and directed several episodes.
