She has previously worked as New York City's Deputy Public Advocate and ran a strong bid for Public Advocate in 2013. Reshma's TED talk, "Teach children, courage not excellence," has received over four million views and sparked a nationwide debate over how we raise our daughters. She is the author of three books, including the upcoming Brave, Not Perfect (due out in Winter 2018), the New York Times bestseller Girls Who Code: Learn to Code and Change the World and Women Who Don't Wait In Line (due out in Spring 2018), in which she advocates for a new model of female leadership that emphasizes embracing risk and failure, promoting mentorship and sponsorship, and boldly charting your own course.
