Renaldo's time of 12.93 for the 110-meter high hurdles was set in 1981 in Zurich, Switzerland, making him the first man to be timed under 13 seconds in this event. He is considered to be the most outstanding hurdler of all time. In 1982, after dominating the hurdles for four consecutive years, Renaldo gave up his amateur status.
