Reggie Witherspoon Biography

Reginald Phillip Phillip Reginald Phillip Reginald Phillip Reginal Reggie Witherspoon is the former head coach of the men's basketball team at the University of Buffalo. After the 2012-13 season, he was sacked. Before being hired as the interim head coach at Buffalo in December 1999, he was the head coach at Erie Community College and the head coach and assistant coach at Sweet Home High School. On March 10, 2000, Witherspoon was named full-time head coach. In any Western New York suburban school system, he was the first African American to be chosen head coach of a varsity sports team. Witherspoon worked as an assistant coach at Alabama for one season under head coach Anthony Grant. When Grant was replaced by Avery Johnson in 2015, Witherspoon was fired by Alabama. He was afterward named to Matt McCall's staff at UT-Chattanooga as an assistant.
