Reed Hastings is an American entrepreneur and businessman. He is the co-founder and CEO of the streaming giant Netflix, which he co-founded in 1997. Hastings attended Bowdoin College, where he received a degree in mathematics.
After graduation, he worked briefly in the Peace Corps in Swaziland before returning to the United States to start his first company, Pure Software, in 1991. Hastings sold Pure Software to Rational Software in 1997 for $750 million, which allowed him to focus on developing Netflix.
