Rebecca Wells is an American author and playwright best known for her novel "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood." Wells grew up in a family of storytellers and was deeply influenced by Southern Gothic storytelling. Wells attended Louisiana State University and later studied at the University of Utah, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts in playwriting.
She began her career as an actress and playwright but turned to write fiction in the 1990s. Wells' breakthrough novel, "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood," was published in 1996 and became a bestseller, inspiring a sequel and a film adaptation.
